  1. Secretary (Andy Millington)
    • 1.1 An e-mail has been received via the website from Faye Stevens from a company called MTS (Medical Training Services), who offer first aid training at a reasonable price from their premises in Kings Heath. The League are not promoting this company but teams should be aware that they should have suitably trained first aiders on hand at matches, although if they play in a sports centre the centre staff should be trained.
Teams playing on school premises should have a trained member of the club in attendance. If anyone is interested in training, TS can be contacted on 0121 444 4118, or contact stevensfaye@yahoo.co.uk, for details.

    • 1.2 Thirty-eight teams have applied to join the West Midland League for the season 2008/2009, and I thank everyone for sending in their application forms on time. Monies are still outstanding for several clubs and I will be contacting them shortly. The details have now been passed to John Taylor, who will commence work on next year’s handbook and hopes to have a draft copy available for the AGM.

    • 1.3 All Premier League teams have accepted the invitation to rejoin for next season as have Stoke and Smithswood. The remaining Leagues will be formulated for the AGM.

  1. Referee’s Secretary (Keith Kershaw)

There are some new rules to be implemented for next season. These will be sent to all clubs & officials in September.

  1. Table Officials’
    Courses

Tony Johnson reported that during the season two Table officials’ Courses had been run and had been well attended by teams in the WMBL. Thanks to excellent tuition from Jeff Booton all 28 candidates passed.

Funding has now been approved by the West Midlands area for another Course to take place on Monday and Tuesday -22/23 September at Leasowes School, Kent Road, Halesowen, between 7-9pm, with an exam taking place on Monday 6 October at the same venue. A maximum of 15 places is available with preference given to new clubs and those who do not have a qualified table official. The course is free to all clubs in the WMBL and Women’s League. Please send your name, club, e-mail address and a contact number of your candidate(s) to tony.johnson2256@yahoo.co.uk. Tony again thanked Jeff Booton for delivering the course and to Barrie Viner for obtaining the grants from the WMBL.

  1. Annual General
    Meeting

The Annual General Meeting will be held in the theatre at Leasowes School on Tuesday 17 June 2008. All teams must be represented. The entry is at the side of the School off the rear car park. Please be at the School for 6.45hrs ready for a prompt 7pm start as the Summer League is still running and members of the Committee need to attend

  1. Any Other Business
    1. Barrie Viner had discovered that there were two Warwickshire League Teams playing in the Birmingham area and he suggested that they be contacted to ensure that they knew there was a more local League for them.
    1. Andy reported that Tom Sunley of Warriors, having picked up on an idea from Kevin Henry about a representative side, had suggested organising a League representative side to enter the Founders Cup. Warriors were offering TCAT as a venue with all their organisation. The only problem was that Warriors do not have adult strength in depth and were interested to see if any players in the League would like to participate. Anyone interested should contact Andy Millington, League Secretary. The end goal of this effort would be the forming of an EBL team made up of members from the West Midlands League in the future. Are you interested? Tom will be circulating Clubs in the near future about the Founders Cup Team idea.
    1. Warriors have also offered to run a one day tournament based at TCAT later in the year. No details are available at the moment but if interested, teams should contact Andy to register their interest. Tom will be contacting Clubs regarding a potential one day tournament once an agreement has been reached with Sport TCAT for the use of their two court facility.
  1. Appeal

8.1 An appeal by West Midlands Police was heard and partially upheld.

    9. Date of Next Meeting

The next Committee meeting will take place in classroom 45, Leasowes School, Kent Road, Halesowen on 1 July 2008.
