COMMITTEE
MEETING – 8 JANUARY 2008

Present:

The Minutes of the previous meeting were read over and signed as being correct.

Changes to the handbook from 4.12.07

Walsall Wizards have changed their kit from purple to red and black.

Balkan Express are changing their home court and tip off time to: -

  1. Matters Arising


    • 2.1 Thirteen people have registered for the Table Officials’ Course on 16/17 Jan 08.

    1. Five teams have registered their interest in joining the Summer
      League. Applications are still invited from teams wishing to participate.
      Contact the League Secretary as soon as possible.

  1. Secretary’s Report (Andy Millington)

    1. Kidderminster Cobras (Premier) and Hoops A (Div 1) have both folded and the Clubs have left the West Midland League. All future matches are cancelled. All previous matches will be removed from the Tables.

    1. Matthew Law has left Kidderminster and has transferred to Wyre Forest Flame. Any Clubs taking on players from any of the above teams should inform the League Secretary before they are eligible to play.

  1. Referee’s secretary (Keith Kershaw)

    1. We welcome Matt Lloyd to our referee’s list. Full details above.

    1. We wish a speedy recovery to Shirley Stewart & Dave Payne.

    3.3 I shall be on holiday from 1st– 24th February inclusive.

    Michael Buckle will deal with any urgent refereeing matters.

    • 3.4 In view of the above I intend to issue appointments for the
      period 1st February – 20th March inclusive (that will take us up to Easter). Once all re-arranged fixtures have been agreed for this period
      I expect the draft appointments to be sent out by 18th January, with any changes or non-availability returned to me no later than 25th January. Please note that once the amended list is issued then you MUST find your own replacement.

    • Weston Hoops A have withdrawn from the League, therefore Wyre Forest have a bye into the quarterfinals.

    • Please note the change of dates for games involving Pro Guard. League fixtures will be re-arranged to accommodate these games.

    1. Tony Johnson reported on the “Hits” that the website has received since its inception, i.e. Table – 11,048. Rosebowl – 801. Team details – 3,000. Gallery – 2,327. A great success – keep looking and a big thank you to Makis for all his hard work.

    1. Congratulations to Dave Bradshaw – Redditch Regents, who was awarded the MBE in the New Year’s Honours.

    1. Barrie Viner reported that Simon Kirkland from the Area Committee, together with Barrie have produced a Flyer for circulation in Schools and Colleges advertising the West Mids Website. Scanned copy attached. (You can find it here)

    1. The Committee unanimously agreed that Shropshire Warriors’ offer of hosting the Rosebowl Final in 2008 should be accepted following the success of last year’s event. Andy will liaise with Warriors regarding date and format and report at the next meeting.

    Kent Road, Halesowen on Tuesday 5 February 2008 at 6.30pm prompt.
